The Concept of Banei Hashem or Children of God

Even when a person errors, they remain a child of God. In Jewish mysticism, this relationship is described as the soul containing a literal spark of divinity. However, this power is meant for self-mastery and spiritual connection, not for physical dominion over others.
The True Meaning of the Chosen People

Conquering the World through Spiritual Influence
When Jewish texts speak of overcoming or influencing the world, they refer to a spiritual and moral transformation, not a political or physical conquest. The Mishnah asks, “Who is mighty?” and answers, “He who conquers his own impulses.” The ultimate power of the Jew is the power of the spirit over matter. By refining their own character and living according to divine values, individuals exert a positive, healing influence on the world around them, helping to usher in an era where all of humanity recognizes the oneness of God.
A Light Unto the Nations and Elevating the World
The phrase a light unto the nations comes from the book of Isaiah. It defines the ultimate purpose of the Jewish people. This purpose is to serve as a moral and spiritual example for the rest of humanity.
This is accomplished through the performance of Mitzvot, which are divine commandments. According to Jewish mysticism, or Kabbalah, particularly the teachings of the Arizal, the world was created with hidden sparks of holiness trapped within physical matter. Every time a person performs a good deed, acts with justice, or fulfills a commandment, they lift up these sparks. This process elevates the material world and brings it closer to its spiritual source.
